Book & brand magic, at your service

Meet the magician.

Hi!

I'm Madison Fitzpatrick,

a writer with one goal: crafting clear messages about complex stuff. I love wading into other people’s brains and sorting their tangled thoughts into flowing prose. Logic and structure are my jam (chalk it up to my engineering background), and so is the fine art of channeling your voice (maybe thanks to my music-trained ear).

FAQ

What exactly do you do?

In short, I help you express your ideas and identity in the most compelling words possible, so you can build a loyal audience that’s always waiting to hear more from you. Check out my services to see how I do it.

Who do you help?

Anyone who has knowledge to share, a story to tell (of the nonfiction variety), or something to offer the world. That includes coaches, leaders, experts, innovators, business owners, and brands—or anyone who aspires to those roles.

Why do authors love working with you?

As one author put it, “You just get me. When we talk, I can tell you understand what I’m trying to say. When I read the words, it feels like my voice, only better than I ever could have said it. You’ve made this process a hundred times easier.”

I do more than just listen and write — I help you think. I guide you to dig deep for clear explanations, insightful examples, meaningful connections, and vivid details so that your book captures the very best you have to give.

How does the whole ghostwriting thing work?

Whether it’s a 1,500-word article or a 50,000-word book, there are three basic phases. First, I interview you to collect the raw material and understand exactly who you’re speaking to and why. Then, I write a draft manuscript. Finally, I collaborate with you to revise the manuscript until you’re happy with it. That’s the simple answer, but if you want more details, check out my services.

If I work with you, is it confidential?

It’s as confidential as you want it to be. Some people don’t want anyone to know they’ve collaborated with others on their book, and we totally respect that. But ghostwriting has become surprisingly common, and lots of authors are happy to acknowledge the writing and thinking partners who help create their books. It’s up to you!

Do you specialize in a particular subject area?

If anything, I specialize in making complex and abstract ideas easy to understand. My background is in engineering and management consulting, and many of the projects I’ve collaborated on fall into the realms of business and personal development. However, I’ve also written blog posts about addiction, websites for entertainment companies, and books on education.

That said, specialization in a content area is overrated. My job is to push you to communicate your ideas so clearly that even a novice (which your reader probably is) could understand. You don't need a subject matter expert for that — you need an expert in listening, asking questions, and drawing connections. That's what I do.

How did you get into this biz?

My journey into the book world started when my husband, Jason, had something to say. He had just started his first teaching job in the United States, and as a recent immigrant from Colombia, he had a unique perspective on the issues he saw among the kids, teachers, and parents. So, we teamed up: he told me his stories, and I wrote them. It started as a blog and soon became two self-published books for teachers, plus an online course.

And it was fun! So, I started doing it for other people. I’ve now ghostwritten over a dozen books and developed messaging for even more brands.

Do you work on fiction books?

Sorry, but no. I love fiction, but I'm not the best person to help you write it. You’re better off with someone who specializes in it. I know lots of great writers, so if you need a recommendation, just ask.

Do you publish or market books?

Not directly, but I can advise you on the best path for your book and refer you to the right people to help you.

If you’re thinking of working with Madison, do it! She’s easy to talk to and nonjudgmental, and her calming demeanor made the process of creating a book much easier.

I am working through the first draft of my book and keep saying to myself “Wow, Madison is a rockstar!” I am grateful for her gifts and hard-earned ability to channel the thoughts in my “too technical” brain.
