Ghostwriting

We talk. I write. It's not dictation — it's a 4-6 month conversation that draws out your very best thinking and puts it on the page.

Here's the stone cold truth.

Just because you have great ideas doesn't mean you have the time and know-how to turn them into a great book.

It's okay! That's what I'm here for.

Turning thoughts into words is my job. I've trained for this. I was born for this. I got you.

The pros don't write books all alone. Neither should you.

Here's what happens

1

We talk.

I'll interview you extensively, starting with the big ideas and working down to the very smallest details. With weekly 2-hour calls, this typically takes 8-10 weeks.

2

I write.

I'll take 3-4 weeks to write the complete first draft of the manuscript. You get a nice, long break from book thoughts, so you can come back with fresh eyes for revisions.

3

We revise.

You read the manuscript, and we talk through what you like and what needs to change. I make all the edits, then we do one final light edit of the revised version.

By the end, you'll have...

A complete manuscript

Usually of 30 - 60k words, or 120 - 240 pages in print. That's the sweet spot for nonfiction.

A title and subtitle

I'll help you craft these. They're massively important for marketing your book.

A book description

This goes on the back cover and on the sales page wherever you sell online (like Amazon).

Madison helped me do something I could never do on my own — write a book. She was able to absorb very complex and nuanced concepts and articulate them in a clear and concise way. I was truly blown away by the final product. Madison definitely gets a 5 star rating. She is positive, professional and made this process truly enjoyable. I have already engaged her for my next book and I honestly believe there is not any topic she cannot handle.

What you really get

You know, aside from the words.

If you’re thinking of working with Madison, do it! She’s easy to talk to and non-judgmental, and her calming demeanor made the process of creating a book much easier.

quality

I can't promise your book will sell, but I can guarantee a top-notch manuscript that showcases your ideas and your voice in the best light.

deadlines

This is a good thing. Without them, book projects drag on for ages. I'll keep us moving at a brisk but feasible pace so you get the benefits of being a published author ASAP, not “someday."

time

Writing a book is time-consuming! I take the bulk of the work off your plate so you can focus on your real job (or just living your best life).

confidence

What cripples most aspiring authors? Doubt — doubt that their work is any good, that they're doing the right things, that they have the right to say anything at all. With an expert partner, you don't have to wonder. You know.

No more...

Freezing up in front of a blank page

Wasting hours on writing you end up throwing out

Putting it off because it just feels too hard

Wondering who really cares anyway

Losing the through-line of your big message

Worrying that you’re missing something crucial

Let's create the book your ideas—and your readers—deserve.

Madison is the perfect blend of a professional researcher, writer and mind-reader. She is amazing and her work product is outstanding.

Do you really need a ghostwriter?

Well, which of these sounds more like you?

You're good on your own if...
  • A book is a fun idea, but you're not 100% convinced you need to write one.
  • You're not sure how a book would benefit you financially (unless it became a huge bestseller, of course).
  • You don't mind if your book takes a while — you're in no rush.
  • You're not prepared to invest serious money into this project.
  • You enjoy writing and have time to do it.
  • The thought of a 2-hour 1:1 conversation horrifies you.
  • You know you have a book in you, but you haven't quite decided exactly what it's about.
  • You like to do things your way — after all, only you know what's best for you.

If any of that sounds like you, my free resources and DIY tools are a better place to start.

Work with me if...
  • You're committed to your book project and ready to invest time and money in it.
  • You can see how this book will make you (and your business) stand out and attract a new audience.
  • You want to see your book done, like, yesterday.
  • You can't afford (or don't want) to spend a lot of time writing.
  • You like talking and can go on at length about your book idea.
  • You have a fairly clear idea of what the book will be about and who it's for.
  • You want to skip the newbie mistakes and do this right the first time.
  • You feel much better when you're in the hands of an expert and are happy to follow their advice.

In a word, amazing.

I have worked with several ghost writers and Madison is head and shoulders above all the others. Her sharp intellect allows her to truly understand complex material incredibly quickly, so you’ll never have to explain an idea more than once.  In fact, she will quickly be adding value to your ideas, not just by making them flow more clearly on the page, but sharpening them and helping shape them for your audience. She is efficient and well organized.  And she’s a delight to work with – she’s quick to share her ideas but never forces them, and is super flexible in the way she works. In a word, amazing.

FAQ

The Full Manuscript package is a serious investment in your book, so let's be clear about all the details.

Is this right for me?

If all of the following are true, then yes.

  • You're committed to writing a book and clear on how it will benefit you.
  • You're ready to make a serious financial investment in your book.
  • You don't have the time or desire to write 30 - 60k words.
  • You want a book expert to guide you through this process and do the heavy lifting.

If you're still not sure, take another look at this checklist.

Will this guarantee me a successful book?

Sorry, but no. Nothing can do that, and don't trust anyone who tries to tell you otherwise. What I can guarantee is a top-quality manuscript that showcases your ideas and your voice in the best light. That's just the first step towards book success. Design and marketing also have a huge impact on how well your book sells and whether it generates new business opportunities for you, and those things are out of my hands.

Do I personally have to be on all the calls?

100% yes. This is your book, which means I need to write based on the words that come out of your mouth, not anyone else's. And when we talk, you won't be simply dictating to me. It's a two-way conversation. I'll be prompting, confirming, clarifying, and challenging your thinking. That's crucial for producing a high-quality manuscript.

Can I have co-authors and guest contributors?

Yes! I've worked on many books with multiple authors. That said, tread carefully here. Everyone needs to be aligned on the purpose of the book, and all the contributions need to stay laser-focused on that. I've found that the more people involved, the harder it is to maintain that focus.

Can you write based on my blog / podcast / course?

In short, no. I've done this before, and it always ends up taking longer and being more difficult than simply delivering content through interviews. You're welcome to use those materials to refresh your brain and help guide our calls, but my process works best when the book content is based on our two-way conversations.

Can we do as many revisions as I want?

I know it's scary, but we have to call it done at some point. That's why we just do one deep round of revisions, plus a light round once the deep edits are done. If you must have more, we'll work out a custom quote.

Can you help me do research for my book?

Want to cite other peoples' work? No problem. Just find that material and talk me through what it means and how it relates to your message. If you want help with that work, I can recommend some great people.

Can you fill in the gaps in my content?

All the content of the book has to come from your brain, not mine. I will stimulate, challenge, organize, and polish your thinking, but I'll never think for you. Otherwise, it wouldn't be your book!

What if I want to pause or cancel the project?

Sticking to the timeline is part of the commitment you make when we start the project. That said, life happens. If you're unable to follow through, we can pause or cancel the project and you won't be charged any further fees. There are no refunds for fees paid prior to that point.

Create your best possible book, without the stress & slog

With the Full Manuscript Ghostwriting Package, your book will come to life faster and better than you ever imagined.

"What if I'm not ready for such a big investment?"

No problem. There are other ways I can help that might be a better fit for your situation.
